Drybar

I am dying laughing as I type this post. My co workers {90% men} are blown away (no pun intended), dumb founded, and confused at the idea of Drybar.

Have you heard of the concept?

No cuts. No color. Just blowouts, for only $35.

"Why would any woman want their hair blown out?" and "Why in the h*ell would you pay for that?". "So you sit there for 45 minutes and all they do is blow out your hair & its considered a luxury...there are a lot of things I would consider luxurious for 45 minutes, well I won't go there". "There is no way this business model will ever make it."

...will they ever get it? The idea is brilliant. And Atlanta friends we're in luck.

Drybar opening this month in Buckhead. Check out the article here.

Any male readers still confused...maybe the WSJ will convince you otherwise here.

Anyone tried any of the other locations, Cali, Texas, NY? If so, how awesome is it?

Yikes!

I was doing my daily pinteresting routine while drinking a diet Dr. Pepper and stumbled upon this....

Disturbing.

Burning, Burning, Burning

...on the Dance Floor.  will this song will be in your head all day?
It's official. Fire Season. We got our firewood delivered earlier this week and built the first one last night. There is nothing like a Fall Fire. Especially in a little rancher...lights up the entire house and makes it oh so cozy.

*Danielle, I'm still too lazy chicken to stencil my ugly, bare walls... I'm working on it...wanna just come paint them for me?!!

It was the perfect night. Cozy Fire. World Series- who is playing again? And Taco Soup.

Here are some other blazing beauties for you. Enjoy.

A {Grateful} Getaway

Hey friends. Hope you are having a good week. We returned late Monday night from an island wedding weekend & I played catch up at the j-o-b all day yesterday.

We were in St. Thomas, USVI celebrating one of my favorite people...Godsis! She is my godparents daughter {self explanatory, eh?} and we are 364 days a part in age & very close. She is a flight attendant & married a Pilot....fitting right? Both of which said they would never marry the opposite.

{view of paradise from our room}

It was such a special, fun weekend.

There was a slight mishap...my wonderful Godparents were robbed & held at gunpoint in the gated house they rented. Horrible. Luckily, they are safe & alive and only material {replaceable} things taken, but we are so fortunate they were ok and grateful they are alive, hence the post title.

Here they are looking gorgeous, happy, blessed, and content.

It was a perfect wedding and everything was absolutely gorgeous. Love you Godsista & thank you for letting us share in ya'lls special day!

Plate Hanging

Are you a fan of grouped plates? I am. They are such a statement piece and a great way to add art to anyroom...for any price. Some of my favorites are the old, vintage plates people find at yard sales & Goodwill. I never seem to get that lucky.

However, I did find these fabulous plates at the Hells Kitchen Flea Market in nyc. I am kicking myself for not buying all 8. At the time, I thought that seemed like too many for our tiny house. {Shows how clueless I am when it comes to decorating}. Now the 4 that I do have sit looking all pretty but lonely with no place to call home. We are working on a different idea and hope to get it done soon.

In the meantime, here are some inspiration hanging plates that are just beautimous (word?!)

Ten on Tuesdays: Catching Up & Randoms

1) Hi friends. I am back. I was out of town for a little work trip boondoggle in Clearwater, FL. Imagine 300 professionals sitting poolside, drinking, and "networking". No meetings, no schedules- what Wall Street Protest? It was fun and exhausting. It was great to have Columbus Day to recover...yes, we partied for 3 days in the gorgeous sunshine then got Monday off as a Federal holiday. And bankers still complain? I know, it really is so pathetic.

{view from  my hotel room}

So, let's play catch up... via the iphone & else.

2) We have been busy. You know when you just feel like you have a lot going on? The weeks where you have something on your calendar every.single.night? Of course no complaints as it's all been exciting stuff, but you know what I'm talking about, right? This quote pretty much sums up the past few weeks... How true?

3) A few weeks ago we had a little dinner party for the impending arrival of baby Stewetta. It was so much fun...and it worked...she made her debut early the next week! I did the table setting in a casual, low key, pink theme. I even brought out the china & crystal....with pink paper napkins...Is that a major dinner party no-go?

Here was my inspiration pic...

And here is how it turned out...

Hah! Leave it to Pinterest....envisions of prettiness does not often turn out a Reality. Where was Martha when I needed her?

We put the boys outside. Are your dinner parties often divided, boy girl?! *Yes, that is orange babys breath. Are you reminiscing on prom circa 1995? Don't judge. I thought the orange was a fun little pop of fall color.

4) We also took a little day trip to the best city ever, Athens Ga, for a football game. It was the perfect fall day...jeans and flats, sunny with a breeze. Took a trip down Milledge Ave to reminisce before kickoff...recognize this house? Many fun memories from this place.

5)  In our house lately, we have had a strange addiction to these...anyone else?

6) Pumpkins & Halloween decor are all over our n'hood. Of course we have yet to purchase ours. Have you? I love all the different colored ones, especially the whites.

7) Remember this pic from a past post?

Well, so not like me to go dark but I went for it and tried 'Color to Diner For' (second color from left)...here you have it...

Apparently, its not very appropriate to color your nails for a work trip...Oops.

Ok....Are you over the randomness? I am over it. Am I really that boring that I can't discuss 10 things?! Sad but true. At least for this week.

Hope you had a wonderful weekend!

Crazy for Quatrefoil

Are you a fan? Of course I am. A lover of all things pattern, Quatrefoil {minus the sound of the word...eek} make my heart thump. So what does the name Quatrefoil mean: "Four Leaf". Origin: 11th century. The look is old and timeless. Although mainstreamed across design world & blogland, the design divas agree its a classic element of style.

Ok, that's a little too much wordage & thought...let's just look at pictures.

An amazing DIYer that created her own Quatrefoil stencil....

Finished product....pretty impressive!

And just for kicks on hump day....

Ciao.
