Good Morning.
What do you think of Zoe's Slaw? I think most people either love it or don't like it one bit. I am on Team A. Love - as in crave it, could eat it everyday.
The menu was planned last night with steak and sweet potato -which by the way I bought regular potatoes - I swear the sign said 'sweet potato'...Guilty Amateur Cook. Apparently, most cooks can tell a reg from a sweet even if the reg potato is in the sweet potatoes place.
Anyways, I wanted to add a green to the mix so decided to search for something similar to Zoes claim-to-fame slaw.
Thru searching, I found this recipe and gave it a shot. Super Easy & Quite Tasty..
Ingredients:
-1 small head of cabbage, thinly sliced {if you're an amateur cook like me, cabbage is located beside the head of lettuce, make sure you get the cabbage! ask if you have to, i did.}
-1 6oz. package crumbled feta
-6 to 7 green onions, chopped
-1/4 cup red wine vinegar
-1/2 cup E.V.O.O
-1-2 teaspoon Sugar
-S&P to taste
Directions:
-Combine shredded Cabbage, Feta, & Chopped Green Onion in a large bowl
-In separate bowl, whisk together Vinegar, EVOO, sugar, and S&P
-Pour over the slaw & toss
-Refrigerate until ready to serve. It's best if you let it refrigerate for a few hours {we didn't do this and it was still delic}.
Enjoy!

Affordable Basket Sources
We have a skinny console in our guest room that functions as a nighstand.
I've been on the hunt for some good looking {& affordable} baskets to put underneath for blankets, mags, etc - all the little stuff to make your guest extra cozy.
Surprisingly, I don't have a picture of our room but you get the idea of the look here...
Chic & cozy, right?
After doing some browsing, here are some affordable options I found.

Catching Up
Hi There! Where have I been??? It's crazy how a week goes by from posting and it feels like a day.
We had a wonderful weekend in South Georgia with some old, fun friends.
Of course there was bribing involved - to get me to S. Ga for the weekend required a pit stop at Scott's beforehand.
We came home with the bottom mid-century prints for a steal....

Right Bldg
& these Andirons for another deal....the husband has been wanting original, old andirons for quite sometime.
Left Bldg
I was quite impressed with him - what was supposed to be a 30 min limit in each building turned into a 3hour browsing session. It wasn't me enthralled with all the goods. It was him checking out every.single.man.booth.
You know the ones that have all the dark wood junk ...old knives, books, fishing stuff.
So after a fun Scott's outing we made our way South. Check out this gorgeous sunset
And then we spent the weekend with our friends at a gorgeous plantation where little Finney went on her first Quail hunt. Let's just say it was a perfect weekend for JH.
Who would've ever thought this girl would be such a dog lover?
Hope you are having a great week!

Pinning down a Pin
Good Morning.
I messed up.
Instead of 'pinning' I 'saved' this image in an inspirational file & now I can't find the source.
Sorry Source. If you read LTK blog {right?!} hit me up and I'll give you credit.
So I received a Wisteria sale email & naturally browsed.
Look what I came across...
So similar - you think? And for $399 not too much of a hole in your pocket.
Here it is by itself...
Pair it with this mirror on clearance for $99 big bucks from Pier 1....
And wa-la...you've got yourself a similar look!

Football Food - Nat'l Championship
The big game is tonight.
This time last year we hosted a party for the AU game &woke up went to bed to snow. Crazy how opposite the weather is a year later. I know, who cares right?!
Anyways, no party this year but might still serve up this delicious Football app. It's a fave among many & always a hit.
Ingredients:
- Shredded Rotisserie Chicken or (you can use 2 cans of chicken if on a time crunch but not nearly as good)
- 8oz. cream cheese, softened
- 1/2 cup Ranch or Blue Cheese Dressing (I prefer Ranch)
- 1/2 cup Hot Sauce (I prefer Franks or Texas Pete)
- 1 cup shredded Cheddar Cheese (or as much chz as you like!)
Heat Oven to 350 degrees.
*Spread cream cheese on bottom of your pyrex dish
*In a bowl- combine chicken, hot sauce, & ranch dressing. Spoon on top of cream cheese.
*Sprinkle the cheddar cheese on top
Bake 15-20 minutes.
Top with green onions for a little flavor & serve with Tostitos or Celery Sticks.
Feeling skinny in the New Year?
I've yet to try this recipe from the talented Skinny Gina but all of her other stuff is delicious.

Finance for Thought: 50/30/20 Budget
Maybe LTK should be known as an internet searcher-slash-sharer.
Sorry for the posting of articles & pics to make you a 'better person'feel like $h*t- I too laugh at/with those people that try to better themselves the first of the year & by Feb 15th, they are back to the 'ole self.
Wait, am I one of those people?!?!
But, I saw this article today and the finance girl in me thinks it's worth sharing.
It's a 50/30/20 Budget. Enjoy.
How was your breakdown?? Surprisingly, my 50% was spot on. As for the others, I couldn't be more far off the 30% spending & the 20% saving.
Reality Check. Happy New Year.
