29 Week Baby Bump

Another tired Friday morning pic.
#preggos&keepingitreal

How far along? 29 weeks complete
Baby Size: ~2.75lbs and 17 inches long. Almost as long as he/she will be at birth. Brain developing & progressing daily.
Total weight gain/loss: 22 lbs total. 2lb weight gain at the last appointment which was much better than the previous 10lbs. The walks & sweet tea cut back are helping!
Maternity clothes? Yes but a few non preggos tops.
Stretch marks? No.
Sleep: I have been waking up the past few nights at 2:30 & 3:30am ready to start the day. I think its the baby prepping us for the sleepless nights ahead!
Best moment this week: Hearing the baby's strong, healthy heartbeat and measuring right on track.
Miss Anything? All the sweet tea but i've replaced it with a little nightly ice cream. It's the simple things!
Movement: Lots of flutters & swishing.
Food cravings: My newest kick is english muffins with peanut butter for breakfast.
Aversions/Anything making you queasy or sick:  No.
Misc:  Lower back pain and tail bone pain, both of which are normal at this stage of the game.

Nursery Chronicles Begin

We have officially started planning Baby H's nursery. It is very exciting to begin this part of the pregnancy. Nesting is beginning to kick in and my honey-do list is growing by the day.

I have been asking & asking (maybe slightly nagging) JH to paint the nursery. Without any luck last weekend while he was hunting/fishing/doingwhateverboysdooutside, I took the project upon myself pulling paint cans and brushes from the basement. I got to work & sent him this picture to let him know I was taking matters in my own hands.

This lit a fire under his ass To his credit, he's been working hard since he returned and we should have a painted nursery by week end.

In the meantime, we've decided on all the fun stuff. Here is our little inspiration board...

We're going with a light green/gray paint color, white crib, white bedding, egg prints for the wall, and the fun tan/white Schumacher fabric as the crib skirt and a valance. There are still things to be added (glider, rug, chest, lamps, wall stuff) but this is the main idea.

Can't wait to see it all come together!

28 weeks: Hello Third Trimester!

Last Friday wrapped up the 28th week of being preggos. We are now in the final stretch...the third trimester! I know I say it all the time, but I cannot get over how fast this pregnancy has gone by. It has been a fun journey and I'm excited to meet our little in 12 short weeks, if not before then.

This pic is really scary, taken at 7:20 on Friday morning.
Note to self, buy some eye brightener or eye opening mascara!

How far along? 28 weeks...bring it on 3rd trimester!
Baby Size: ~2.25lbs and 15 inches long. Has eyelashes & can see light!
Total weight gain/loss: We’ll find out this week at the doc.
Maternity clothes? Yes. And my maternity tights are not very comfortable.
Stretch marks? No, Palmers is my best friend.
Sleep: Kind of. It's tough switching from side to side during the night.
Best moment this week: Picking out nursery stuff and jh priming the room.
Miss Anything? Nothing of note. Feeling pretty good.
Movement: Little Flutters. Can’t wait to hear the heartbeat this week.
Food cravings: Eating ice cream with milk on top at night. I did go to tcby instead of a chick fil a milkshake this weekend & considered it a wise choice.
Aversions/Anything making you queasy or sick:  Nada.
Misc:  Having  serious cases of preggos brain. Forgetting things and a little lost in la la land.

27 weeks: So Long Second Trimester

Ok...somehow I've messed up. Looks like I got off track last week by posting a week late. Oops. Today actually marks 28 weeks complete- 12 more to go- but I thought it was the last day of week 27 so I'm going with it and recapping Week 27.

So long second trimester, you've been good to me! I've really enjoyed this trimester. Other than some stretching (growing pains) and leg cramping along with the occasional sleepless night, this trimester has been really easy. I've enjoyed having a pregnant belly and my energy level has been back in full throttle.

How far along? 27 weeks...end of the second trimester!
Baby Size: Over 2lbs and 15 inches long. Blinking eyes and sleeping & waking in regular intervals.
Total weight gain/loss: We’ll find out next week at the doc.
Maternity clothes? Oh yea.
Stretch marks? No, but applying Palmers like no other.
Sleep: Yes & lots of crazy, off the wall dreams.
Best moment this week: My first pre-natal massage at Old Edwards Spa. Total perfection!
Miss Anything? Nothing really. Being sober for new years was quite a different experience!  Sure did feel good to feel good on 1/01 though.
Movement: Lots of fluttering, especially at night.
Food cravings: Sweets again. Red velvet cake, ice cream, cookies. Cannot stop.
Aversions/Anything making you queasy or sick:  Nada.
Misc: It’s getting more challenging to put on pants and tie shoes!

2013: Happy New Year!

It's a new year...2013. Has a good ring to it, right? If you're like me, you like new years. It's a time for a fresh start, new check lists, and a chance to get things done. Now don't misunderstand me...i'm just as guilty of being overly-ambitious with my goals & resolutions the first of the year and then by March it's back to the old ways. But who cares. It's all about the attempt & the effort, right?

So, here we go 2013. Bring it on! I have a feeling it's going to be our best one yet.

It's a big year for us with some really exciting times (baby H & my brother's wedding) and some not so exciting, changing times (but such is life).

Goals:

-Join a Church. We attend church (I would be lying if I said regularly & you can't lie about church!) but we have not joined one locally as members yet. After 3+ years of marriage, I think it's time.

-Survive Joint Checking. We are making the commitment to be a one family finance unit. Over the past years, we have had a joint house account but seperate personal accounts. This one is going to be a challenge as the husband doesn't do well with the cost of highlights & I don't do well with bar tabs, but this will be good for us.

-Post baby Peachtree. It's going to be a challenge but if all goes well delivery wise and the body heals appropriately, I would love to run the Peachtree again this July 4th. It was one of my favorite highlights of 2012. Such a fun, rewarding event. If I'm able to do it, I'm hoping to break the 1 hour mark. Here's to hoping!

-Parenting. This is scary & exciting to write. This is huge for us and something John & I talk about often. We hope to be wonderful parents for our baby. Our goal is to also do what works best for our family. And stick to this motto. There are so many resources & opinions out there with how to do e.v.e.r.y.t.h.i.n.g. and while it's often easier to listen & take advice from others or do what the majority do, we want to remember to do what makes the most sense for our family unit. In the end, that is all that matters.

-Continue blogging. Even though this little blog doesn't really have a purpose or consistency for that matter(!) I still enjoy documenting this little life journal. Strange but admittedly, I've always enjoyed looking back at past calendars to see what we did for weekends in previous years. This blog let's me capture it all in one place and it's also fun to connect with other readers.

-And last, Have fun. This is my favorite. Life is good. Let loose everyone once in a while or always!

There you have it. Some serious, some fun. Any good 2013 resolutions for you other than the norm?

I've got lots of holiday and new years eve pics to post so hopefully I will get caught up soon.

Happy New Year!

26 Weeks Bump Check

Hope you & your fams had a very Merry Christmas. We had so much fun being with lots of family & also enjoyed celebrating our last Christmas as a family of two! Christmas is going to be a little different next year.

Today completes week 26 of being pregnant and starts the last week of the second trimester --- crazy.

How far along? 26 weeks
Baby Size: 2lbs, 14 inches long, & continuing to put on the baby fat. The baby’s ears are almost fully developed & can now hear our voices. No more drama! Jk.
Total weight gain/loss: No clue but I’m hoping I’ve slowed down since last doc visit.
Maternity clothes? All bottoms are maternity at this point but still squeezing into a lot of non-maternity tops.
Stretch marks? No, but I did buy some Palmer’s lotion to hopefully keep this answer a 'no'.
Sleep: Yes & No. Waking up a lot during the night but thinking this is due to holiday chaos.
Best moment this week: Spending Christmas with my family and talking about how much fun next year will be with the little one.
Miss Anything? The vino sure would have been delightful over the holiday but I drank lots of Welch’s sparkling grape juice- brings back lots of childhood memories! I did have a glass of fancy wine (who can resist?) and it was relaxing. Sure did enjoy not having holiday hangovers this year like most of my fam!
Movement: A little bit, mostly at night. This continues to worry me (me worry?) but I’m trying to remember that I have an anterior placenta (sorry for the medical/baby term) so it prevents a barrier between baby and stomach, which leads to less feeling of movement yet the baby is more than likely kicking away.
Food cravings: Oddly, lots of sweets this past week. Over-indulged in Christmas chocolate & pies. And I may have gone thru Chick fil a yesterday for a cookies & crème milk shake as if my holiday intake wasn’t enough!
Aversions/Anything making you queasy or sick:  Nada.
Misc: I passed the 3 hour glucose test!!! Praise the lord.

Merry Christmas!

Hope you & you family have a very Merry Christmas!

Lots to be grateful & thankful for this year!
